A multimedia performance uniting the arts of Photography, Contemporary Dance, Theatre, Music, Theatrical Makeup and Video Art!

Following “Annabel” and “Frida”, the BelleArte artistic team presents “Llorona” at Topos Technon “Chora”! A performance inspired by the Latin American myth of La Llorona—the woman who wanders the riverbanks each night searching for her children, whom she herself drowned.

According to legend, La Llorona is a woman abandoned by her husband, who—driven by grief and rage—drowns her children in a river before taking her own life the same way. For this act, she is condemned to roam eternally, seeking her children. Her presence brings misfortune, and her wailing strikes fear in the hearts of mortals.

Images, sounds, and movements invite the audience to “participate” in order to reach a state of catharsis.

Photography Exhibition

Running concurrently in the stone building is a photography exhibition by Akis Loukas, inspired by and created specifically for the “Llorona” performance.
Open to the public through September 5, 2025.
